Plus espresso martini margaritas, Wicked-themed boozy drinks, and more weekend plans Historic carriage house-turned-restaurant Iron Gate rings in 11 years under Neighborhood Restaurant Group. To mark the occasion, the group installed heaters, restored the foundation, and installed a retractable awning to upgrade the space from 2013. All that hard work has paid off, with plenty of favorable reviews and local celebrity sightings at the romantic spot known for Mediterranean and Greek fare.

Throwback dishes are on Iron Gate’s dinner menu until November 23, before a ticketed event to celebrate the anniversary on November 24. A variety of food and cocktail stations will highlight diner favorites like whole roasted lamb with pita and Greek potatoes, cheeses and charcuterie, gnocchi and spiced pork ragu, mushroom carbonara, and seafood giouvesti. If you’re still hungry for something sweet, mini budinos and loukomades will be fried to order for dessert. The early dinner lasts from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. and tickets ($95) are available on Opentable.
The dubious combination of espresso martinis and margaritas
Blossom Beverages, a D.C.-based canned cocktail company, is giving a sneak peak of a new fall-flavored cocktail and shaking up espresso martini margaritas at El Techo on Sunday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Live stick-and-poke tattoos will be available, DJs will be playing tunes, and El Techo’s Mexican fare will be available during the raucous party on November 24. Paraíso serves Wicked-ly delicious cocktails this weekend
From Friday to Sunday, Paraíso is selling Wicked-themed cocktails this weekend to celebrate the movie version of the hit musical opening in theaters. Elphaba’s Fancy Margarita ($15), made of La Gritona reposado tequila, orange brandy, lime, and agave topped off with dark, sugary cherries, contrasts against Glinda’s Grapefruit Tonic ($14), made with Gracias a Dio’s agave gin, Campari, tonic, and (of course) grapefruit. Even Fiyero gets a special spicy beverage made with blue agave tequila, habanero, and blood orange. The magical drinks are available during lunch and dinner service.
