Pedestrian identified in crash near Chelton Road

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) said the pedestrian who died from their injuries in a crash in southeast Colorado Springs has been identified as 25-year-old Michaela D. Henderson.
According to CSPD, on Nov. 2 at around 8:45 p.m., police were called to a crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian in the 1800 block of South Academy Boulevard near Chelton Road. When police arrived they found Henderson unresponsive in the northbound lanes of S. Academy Blvd. Henderson was taken to the hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries.
On Nov. 3 Henderson succumbed to her injuries.
CSPD said the investigation revealed Henderson was crossing S. Academy Blvd. outside of a designated crosswalk when she was hit by a passing vehicle. The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene and police are not anticipating any charges will be filed.
CSPD said this is the 45th traffic fatality in 2024, at this time in 2023 there were 45.
