ALPINE, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) -- The San Diego County Sheriff's Department responded to a report of threats made by two students at Shadow Hills Elementary School in Alpine on Thursday.
The threats, which were directed at a group of students and teachers, prompted swift action by school administrators and law enforcement around 5:30 p.m. Officials with the Sheriff's Office said school staff informed deputies from the Alpine Sheriff's Station that they had identified the suspects, who are also students at the elementary school.

Deputies then contacted the parents of the suspects and conducted safety checks at their homes. The two students, whose identities have not been released due to their status as minors, have been suspended pending further investigation into the matter.
A preliminary investigation by deputies has determined that the threats do not appear to be credible. Despite this, deputies will be conducting extra patrols around the school on Friday, Nov. 22, to ensure the continued safety of students and staff. These patrols are precautionary as a way to prioritize the safety and well-being of the community, said the Sheriff's Office.
"The safety of our school children is a priority for the Sheriff's Office. We take all threats seriously," officials noted in a press release detailing the incident. "We want to remind students that if they hear any threats or even potential violence, they can always approach our Sheriff's school resource deputies."
