Expert confirms embattled San Mateo County sheriff sent homophobic text

(KRON) -- San Mateo County officials provided forensic evidence on Thursday that Sheriff Christina Corpus sent a homophobic text message. Corpus had previously denied the allegations.
County Supervisor Ray Mueller unveiled his evidence at a press conference. It is the latest development in the saga regarding the embattled sheriff, who has refused to resign after multiple county and state officials called on her to do so.
An independent report written by Judge LaDoris Cordell claimed that Corpus sent a text to an employee of the sheriff's office in which she called a local city council member a term that is considered a slur against lesbians.

On Nov. 12, Corpus held a press conference in which she said the text message evidence appeared to be fabricated. However, forensic evidence confirmed what was written in Cordell's report.
In the report, Corpus is accused of using more offensive language, including the "n word."
There has been an exodus within the sheriff's office as the scandal involving Corpus and former Chief of Staff Victor Aenlle has unfolded. Only one member of the sheriff's executive team remains besides Corpus.
Congressman Kevin Mullin, Congresswoman Anna Eshoo, State Sen. Josh Becker and the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors are among the officials who have called on Corpus to resign.
