Over an inch of rainfall in western Massachusetts
Nov 22, 2024
CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - Western Massachusetts has finally seen a good soaking of rain after a record-breaking dry stretch of weather.
It has been since August 18TH since there was a half inch or more of rain in a single day at Westover Air Reserve Base in Chicopee. Many areas saw between 1-2 inches of rain across western Massachusetts between Thursday and Friday.

While this will not end the severe drought that is occurring, it will definitely help. This well-needed rainfall will also mitigate the risk of brush fires now that the soil has good moisture in it.
In terms of snowfall, some areas in the Berkshires saw a coating of snow on the grassy surfaces. Big snowfall totals were found across the Catskill Mountains in New York and the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania where many areas saw between 1-2 feet of snow.
