VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) -- Princess Anne High School went under a lockdown on Friday morning. 10 On Your Side's Andy Fox was at the scene, and posted on X that the situation had been resolved by around 9:30 a.m. BREAKING NEWS: Princess Anne High School was on lockdown but I am told the situation has been resolved. Parents out front wondering what’s going on. I am told it is now on an administrative lock down @WAVY_News pic.twitter.com/iyDRvqnKD3— Andy Fox (@AndyFoxWAVYTV) November 22, 2024 A parent of two children at the school spoke to Andy Fox about the incident, bringing up concerns over Governor Youngkin's Executive Order 33, which implements a cell phone-free policy across the Commonwealth. "[It's been] terrifying," Robin Lee-Timmons said. "You think that your kids are in trouble, they're scared, they're in a classroom, you can't tell them to do anything to protect themselves, you don't know what's going on. If [my kids] hadn't have had their cell phones, I wouldn't have known they were in trouble. It's one thing to have them out, talking on the phone, it's another thing to text your parents and tell them that you love them because you're scared." The Virginia Beach Police Department released a statement on the incident, which can be read in full below: Good morning. Princess Anne High School was temporarily on internal lockdown due to an alleged threat. VBPD are on site, investigating. The alleged suspect has been thoroughly searched, as well as the school grounds. There is no threat at this time. Our officers' investigation has verified that there was no weapon on school grounds. The lockdown has been lifted. VBPD officers are finalizing their investigation, and following, all parent messaging will come from the schools. VBPD WAVY-TV 10 has reached out for more information on the incident. Check back for updates. Continue to check WAVY.com for updates.
