KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- In a season filled with firsts and accolades, Kansas City Current star Temwa Chawinga added a crowning achievement to her 2024 campaign by earning NWSL MVP honors.
The attacking forward is the first in franchise history to win the award, which is selected by a combination of votes from players, owners/coaches/GMs, media and fans. “We are so proud of Temwa for earning this award,” head coach Vlatko Andonovski stated in a news release.

She does so much for us both offensively and defensively and, most importantly, she is a great teammate. I am so excited to watch Temwa continue to grow with our club.”
Chawinga rewrote the record book on offense this season, becoming the first NWSL player to score 20 goals in a single season, winning the Golden Boot for the league's top scorer. She was also the first to score in eight consecutive matches, first to score against all 13 active teams in a single season, and the first to score or assist on 26 goals.
