A cold Friday; warming through the weekend
Nov 22, 2024
The snow showers have moved on but the cold temperatures are lingering. After a brief bump in temperatures late last night, they have fallen below freezing again in many locations. It feels even colder with wind chills in the mid 20s early Friday morning. We will climb to the mid 40s this afternoon but wind chills will only rise to the mid 30s at the warmest part of the day.
Indianapolis had record breaking snowfall on Thursday, picking up 3.2" of snow. This smashes the old record for the date of 1.3", set back in 2015.
We had even higher totals in other locations with as much as 4.5" of snow measured at Ball State with both the morning and afternoon round combined.
The snow has come to an end but we could see a few flurries along with some patchy light rain showers into the late morning and afternoon. Northwestern, breezy winds are pulling this moisture off of Lake Michigan and we will see some of this activity make its way into central Indiana later today.
We continue to warm into the weekend with temperatures that will climb to the mid and upper 40s Saturday and into the mid 50s on Sunday. The warmup is brief as we settle into colder conditions again leading up to the holiday next week. If you have local travel plans for Thanksgiving, we are watching a system Wednesday and Thursday to bring us rain and the chance for a wintry mix. Stay tuned!
