FRANKLIN, Ind. -- A convicted drug dealer from Indianapolis was sentenced in Johnson County on Thursday.
According to a news release from the Johnson County Prosecutor's Office, Randy Jent was sentenced to 58 years in prison after a two-day trial in late October. Jent was convicted on Oct. 29 on three counts of dealing in methamphetamine, two Level 2 felonies and one Level 4 felony.
“This is an example of what criminals should expect in this county,” Johnson County Prosecutor Lance Hamner said in the release. “As I have frequently said ‘cross that county line, you’ll do lots more time.'"

The release said that the charges came after a confidential informant identified Jent as a methamphetamine dealer. Earlier this year, Jent delivered drugs multiple times to an undercover detective and/or a confidential informant.
"Here’s yet another of an out-of-county criminal coming to our community to commit crimes," Hamner continued in the release. " He will now be spending decades in a steel cage. It’s a sad story for him but I hope he tells his friends, 'Don’t sell drugs in Johnson County. They’ll send you to prison forever.'"
