ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — The Rockingham County Sheriff's Office is searching for a wanted man after a high-speed motorcycle chase over the Virginia state line.
At around 7:35 p.m. on Thursday, a Rockingham County deputy tried to pull over a motorcycle on NC 14 near Fisher Hill Road after seeing a traffic violation that nearly caused a crash with another car.
Investigators say that the driver of the motorcycle, Cody Warren Purdy, 34, of Eden, did not heed the lights and sirens and drove away at a high rate of speed in an attempt to escape, leading to a chase.

Purdy is wanted on several charges related to the high-speed chase and escape as well as several outstanding warrants for arrest that are not related to Thursday's events.
