North Carolina police department grieves loss of K9 Nitro

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — A K9 with the Greenville Police Department has passed away.
K9 Nitro was an explosive detection dog for the department. It was said that Nitro had an exceptional temperament and was very loving and happy. Nitro had a tireless work ethic and served alongside Officer Bobby Parker. Nitro served for eleven years where he made sure that football games, presidential visits, schools and neighboring jurisdictions were safe.
Nitro's sister Phoenix will succeed him as the department's first female explosive detection dog.
