Get Hawaii's latest morning news delivered to your inbox, sign up for News 2 You Now, 8 years later, we are here at Lanikuhonua in Kapolei for the world premiere of the second part to that story, Moana 2. Come follow me down this bright blue carpet to see what is taking place inside. "I really feel like Moana's wave of representation and of impact continue to grow," says Aulii Cravalho, voice of Moana. "I was so grateful to voice Moana once more in Olelo Hawaii for our original film and I know that this film is also going to be translated just as many times as the last including Olelo Hawaii, Te Reo Maori, Samoan, Tahitian. I love that not only does this film show wayfinding and navigation which is a source of Polynesian pride, we did that first, not only does it show that on the screen but it also fosters language and resurgence in that respect as well. So I am really grateful to be here, its such a celebration," says Cravalho. As a Native Hawaiian watching the first Moana and the success of how it brought such an important light to this side of the world, its about connection, its about Aloha for one another, its about family. To you, being exposed to the world and being able to carry this message, how would you explain what aloha and mana is? Sen. Schatz says partisanship is roadblock to Maui funding "What I always explain to people who don't known what Aloha means and Aloha spirit, especially people who have come to Hawaii for the first time and when I find out that they have come for the first time, I say to them all the time, "so, let me ask you, when you got off the plane, did it hit you?" says Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, voice of Maui. "10 out of 10, they go, "it did." I say that's Aloha spirit. That is mana. So what I would explain and always tell people is mana is here, its power. You can feel it, its palpable and its powerful, but it is also good and its kindness. Mana works both ways but in our case, I fell as Polynesian people, its all about raising each other up, supporting each other, and being there and being proud for who we are," says Johnson. "Look, I grew up on that side of town. I would get in trouble on that side of the island. Going to McKinley High School and King Middle School. But what a I moment I feel this is, I feel for our culture and throughout the years, we have had great moments for our culture. But I think in the world of entertainment, for us to have this moment, its Moana 2, its our culture, its our people, and not only that, there is a lot of people around the world…I was just talking to Bob Iger who is our Chairman of Disney and said there is lot of people that need a movie like Moana but there is more people who are anticipating and cant wait for Moana. Its a very cool thing, man," says Johnson. You are going to be able to catch Moana 2 as it hits the movie theatres next week Wednesday, November 27th.
