School districts in Ashe, Avery, and Watauga counties all have canceled school for Friday opting instead for a remote learning day. Could winter be ‘warm and snowless’ in the Piedmont Triad? FOX8 Meteorologist Emily Byrd makes her prediction Snow totals are expected to settle between 2 to 4 inches in most areas with higher elevations seeing upwards of 4 to 6 inches if not more in some isolated areas. The Winter Weather Advisory for Ashe, Avery, and Watauga counties will continue throughout the day and last until early Saturday morning. We can expect snow to taper off this morning before returning intermittently through Saturday morning. Overnight lows will plummet again Friday night, bottoming out in the low 30s to upper 20s as mostly clear skies continue to dominate heading into Saturday morning.
