MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- The West Tennessee Drug Task Force arrested two people and seized a pound of marijuana and more than $18,000 in cash during a drug bust in Frayser this month.
The director said agents with the 30th District out of Memphis served a search warrant on Helmwood Street following a lengthy investigation and also confiscated 1/4 ounce of fentanyl and digital scales.

Director Johnnie Carter said under the Governor’s Violent Crime Initiative Fund grant, they are targeting the most violent zip codes in Memphis, including 38127 in Frayser.
“We’ve barely began to scratch the surface with this grant as we primarily target fentanyl and violent offenders in these zip codes,” said Carter. "I’ve got a great group of dedicated investigators who’ve forged great local partnerships, and all I can say is that if you’re selling fentanyl, you better stop. You’ve been warned."
Carter said the cash seized was from drug proceeds. The case is being prosecuted by the Shelby County District Attorney's Office.
