HONOLULU (KHON2) -- A hiker in her 50s was rescued on the Maili Pillbox Trail Thursday morning after suffering an injury that left her unable to descend the trail on her own. The first responders arrived at 9:45 a.m. and sent personnel up the trail on foot. Sen. Schatz says partisanship is roadblock to Maui funding Upon reaching the hiker at 10:01 a.m., fire crews conducted a medical assessment and provided basic life support. To facilitate the rescue, Air 1 was deployed to transport rescue personnel to the site, where they prepared the injured woman for an airlift. At 10:15 a.m., the hiker was flown to a nearby landing zone, where she was transferred to Emergency Medical Services (EMS) for further care.
