Man facing prison for killing woman during an illegal street race in 2022

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – A man is facing prison time after a New York Supreme Court jury convicted him of Manslaughter (2nd) for the vehicular homicide of Alivia Curl in 2022.
On November 26, 2022, officials say 31-year-old Chace Smith and Timothy Tabron were involved in an illegal street race on Broad Street, approaching speeds as fast as 88 miles per hour in a residential area. The posted speed limit in that area was 30 miles per hour.
Woman killed in 3-car crash in Rochester
During this illegal race, Smith hit another vehicle driven by 30-year-old Alivia Curl who died at the scene of the crash. Both Smith and Tabron were arrested at the time for homicide.
Tabron previously pled guilty to Manslaughter (2nd) and is expected to be sentenced three to six years in the New York State Department of Corrections.

Smith was sentenced to an indeterminate sentence of 5 to 15 years in the New York State Department of Corrections which is the maximum sentence allowed by law.
