Tequila bar and cantina Armada will open next year in the old Pusser’s space. | Atlas Restaurant Group/rendering Baltimore-based Atlas takes over the prime real estate with plans to open a cantina and Italian chophouse next year After 30 years of slinging rum-fueled Painkillers in Annapolis’ Ego Alley, Pusser’s Caribbean Grille closed its doors this fall. All is not lost for fans of the tropical paradise, however, as Pusser’s plans to relocate next spring to an all-new waterfront spot in Baltimore’s Canton neighborhood. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Pusser's Caribbean Grille (@pussersannapolis) Chris Townsend, co-owner of Pusser’s, said the new Maryland space will maintain its same British pub feel and vintage bar from Wales and resurface with a new name: Pusser’s Landing at Lighthouse Point Marina. The new location will also have an increased capacity of 300 seats inside and 200 on a floating dock bar outside. The Canton marina will also have 350 news slips for boaters, and Townsend plans to deliver food and drinks straight to customers bobbing in the harbor. The Pusser’s space in Marriott’s Annapolis Waterfront Hotel won’t stay empty for long (80 Compromise Street, Annapolis, Maryland). Baltimore-based Atlas Restaurant Group, which expanded to Annapolis in 2022 with its two-story crab house Choptank overlooking the same stretch of Ego Alley, will put two new restaurants inside. Marmo, an Italian chophouse, will take over part of the space with seating for 350 guests including 150 outdoors. The dockside menu will include steaks, homemade pastas, and of course, extensive seafood options. The restaurant also plans to showcase an array of Italian wines as well as its own themed cocktails in the main interior bar that sports panoramic water views from the second-floor terrace. Atlas’ second planned restaurant is tequila bar and cantina Armada, which will serve a Mexican menu full of tacos, burritos, quesadillas, and more. Armada will be able to seat 200 guests, including 100 outdoor seats, according to information from Atlas. Following an extensive facelift, both Marmo and Armada plan to open in late summer 2025. Renowned interior designer Patrick Sutton is putting together the new look. “Through this deal, we will transform the hotel into a culinary destination that will not only delight locals, but also attract visitors from near and far,” Alex Smith, founder and CEO of Atlas Restaurant Group announced in a press release. Employees of the existing restaurant and catering operations will have the choice to join the Atlas team. The two-part project will collectively employ nearly 400 people from the Annapolis community, adds Atlas. Annapolis Mayor Gavin Buckley tells Eater he’s looking forward to seeing Atlas’ plans for the new space. “We like it in Annapolis when people invest in waterfront restaurants,” says Buckley. “Choptank has proven to be a great venue that showcases the City’s waterfront and Main Street areas.” Back in its Baltimore home base, 12-year-old Atlas runs a sea of restaurants and bars largely concentrated in the Harbor East neighborhood (Elk Room, Tagliata, Loch Bar, and the Bygone, to name a few).
