SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- Thursday's weather is mostly sunny, warm and dry across San Diego County. It's likely the warmest day for the next week regionally. The coast and valleys will begin to cool off a bit on Friday with daytime highs topping out in mid to upper-60's at the beach, low 70's for the valleys, mid-60's for the mountains, and low 80's for the deserts. An atmospheric river will direct Pacific moisture towards Southern California this weekend, but this time it only means periods of light rainfall beginning as early as Saturday night. The bomb cyclone that is dumping rain and snow across Northern California this week is staying pretty stationary, therefore the cold front developing in the system and looking to move farther south will not have the available energy to produce heavy or dangerous rain south of Los Angeles. The first frontal boundary moving in Saturday night into Sunday will likely only produce drizzle to light rain. The second pulse of rain activity could occur early next week as another cold front moves in. Accumulations have really backed off with North County favored to get slightly higher rainfall totals. The region is looking at less then a tenth inch of rain for the majority of the county, with some local spots picking up closer to a quarter inch of rain by early next week. Cooler, cloudier and windier weather will accompany the weather pattern change.
