NEWTON, Kan. (KSNW) - Fire crews in Newton are currently battling a large chicken barn fire. Newton Fire/EMS was called out to the 1400 Block of N. West Rd. after an explosion was reported. One person was inside the barn at the time of the explosion, but they were not injured. No other injuries have been reported. "Unfortunately, the barn was at or near capacity with 20,000 chickens," said Newton Fire/EMS. The entire structure has collapsed.
