TOPEKA (KSNT) - The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) announced several changes to traffic north of Topeka that could impact drivers during the winter season. According to a news release from KDOT, starting Friday, Nov. 22, the Northwest 35th Street on-ramp to southbound U.S. 75 will close. This closure is expected to last for three weeks. Drivers are encouraged to follow a marked detour, directing them to Northwest Brickyard Road to Northwest 46th Street then to the southbound U.S. 75 exit. Topeka leaders appoint new police chief A KDOT contractor will also start removing traffic control on the northbound lanes of U.S. 75 for a shutdown during the winter season. All northbound lanes will be open to drivers until project work will start up again. Traffic control on the southbound lanes of U.S. 75 are expected to be removed by the end of December, 2024 for the winter shutdown. According to KDOT, project work is expected to restart next year.
