There are 12 Inland high school football teams competing in CIF Southern Section playoff games Friday, Nov. 15, and Saturday, Nov. 16.
Here is a closer look at the games involving Inland teams.

FRIDAY’S CIF SOUTHERN SECTION FOOTBALL PREVIEWS
CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND
8-Person, Division 1
California School for the Deaf-Riverside (10-0) at Flintridge Prep (9-0), 6 p.m.
IE Varsity info: CSDR defeated Cate 32-12 last week to punch its ticket to the section finals for the fourth straight season. The Cubs claimed the Division 1 title in 2022 and won the Division 2 crown last season. Kaden Adams has passed for 1,497 yards and 29 touchdowns and added 432 yards and 12 touchdowns on the ground. Gio Visco has racked up 1,430 yards from scrimmage (722 receiving, 708 rushing) and scored 26 total touchdowns. Lineman Darius Zarembka leads the Cubs on defense with 55 tackles, and he also has caught nine touchdown passes. Flintridge Prep advanced to the finals with a 42-24 victory over Santa Clarita Christian last week. The Wolves have a prolific ground attack led by John Battaglia and Will Grable.

SEMIFINAL ROUND
Division 1
Mater Dei (10-0) at Centennial (9-2), 7 p.m.
IE Varsity info: This is the 15th meeting between these national powerhouses. Mater Dei has won six straight and leads the overall series 9-5, but Centennial does have a 2-1 record against the Monarchs in past playoff games. Centennial opened this year’s Division 1 playoffs with a 25-20 victory over Mission Viejo last week. Husan Longstreet has passed for 1,641 yards and 19 touchdowns and added six scores on the ground, and Cory Butler Jr. has caught 57 passes for 941 yards and 11 touchdowns. Malachi Roby led the rushing attack for the Huskies last week with a career-high 208 yards and two touchdowns. Linebacker Jonathan McKinley II leads the defense with 10 1/2 sacks and 21 hurries. Mater Dei began defense of its Division 1 title with a 33-13 win over Sierra Canyon. Dash Beierly has passed for 1,687 yards and 21 touchdowns, and Jordan Davison has rushed for 875 yards and 13 touchdowns. Linebacker Nasir Wyatt leads the defense with 6 1/2 sacks.

Division 2
Oaks Christian (9-3) at Murrieta Valley (10-2), 7 p.m.
IE Varsity info: Murrieta Valley cruised to a 49-28 victory over Los Alamitos last week, and the Nighthawks are averaging 52.8 points per game since quarterback Bear Bachmeier returned to the lineup. Bachmeier has passed for 913 yards and nine touchdowns and added 276 yards and five touchdowns on the ground over four games, Dorian Hoze has rushed for 1,688 yards and 26 touchdowns for the Nighthawks. Lineman Gio Monge paced the defense last week with eight tackles. Oaks Christian rallied for a 35-21 win over San Juan Hills last week. Trey Towns Jr. has passed for 1,861 yards and 19 touchdowns, and Deshonne Redeaux has rushed for 1,028 yards and 12 touchdowns. Linebacker Christian Knoos leads the Lions on defense with 145 tackles.
Prediction: Murrieta Valley
Division 3
Edison (8-4) at Vista Murrieta (8-4), 7 p.m.
IE Varsity info: Vista Murrieta is the No. 15-seeded team in the bracket, but the Broncos have beaten No. 2 seed Villa Park (23-20) and No. 10 seed Cajon (21-0) in the first two rounds. Bryson Beaver has passed for 3,001 yards and 32 touchdowns, and Sean McCullough has 74 receptions for 1,264 yards and 14 touchdowns. Devon Leonard led the ground attack last week with a career-high 176 yards. Linebacker Brennan Martinez tops the defense with 85 tackles and four interceptions. Edison posted matching 24-0 victories over North Torrance and Bonita in the first two rounds of the playoffs. Julius Gillick leads the ground attack for the Chargers with 1,862 yards and 26 touchdowns. Linebackers Matt Lopez and Jeremiah Ross have registered 122 and 121 tackles, respectively.

Division 5
La Serna (9-3) vs. Summit (11-1) at Miller HS, 7 p.m.
IE Varsity info: Summit routed top-seeded Huntington Beach 48-14 in last week’s quarterfinal round and extended its winning streak to nine games. Mark Mitchell III leads the rushing attack for the SkyHawks with 1,334 yards and 18 touchdowns. George Toia is one of the top defensive linemen in the Inland Empire, and he also scored four touchdowns on offense in last week’s game. Linebacker Evan Ramos leads the defense with 77 tackles, and cornerback Jayden Dunn has five interceptions. La Serna won the Division 4 section title and Division II-AA state title last season, and the Lancers have now won eight consecutive postseason games dating back to last season. Grady Long has passed for 1,401 yards and 18 touchdowns, while Kaimana Tufunga has caught 42 passes for 682 yards and seven touchdowns. Linebacker Eli Perez leads the Lancers on defense with 94 tackles.

Division 6
Murrieta Mesa (8-4) at St. Francis (5-7), 7 p.m.
IE Varsity info: Murrieta Mesa defeated Northwood 19-10 last week to advance to the semifinals for the second consecutive season. Trey Gamble Jr. passed for a career-high 322 yards, and Dez’mun Franklin had seven catches for 129 yards, Alex Krishan kicked four field goals in that victory. Artyon Celestine leads the ground attack for the Rams with 1,232 yards and 11 touchdowns. Linebacker Deshawn Reid has registered a team-high 97 tackles. St. Francis rallied for a 28-27 win over top-seeded Muir last week. John Sanders has thrown for 1,517 yards and 14 touchdowns, and Isaac Fajardo has rushed for 749 yards and 16 touchdowns. Linebacker Julian Navarro leads the Golden Knights on defense with 98 tackles.
Prediction: Murrieta Mesa
Division 7
Warren (5-7) at Yucaipa (8-4), 7 p.m.
IE Varsity info: Yucaipa rallied for a 10-7 victory over Peninsula last week, taking the win after Logan Barbour scored on a 1-yard run with 3:37 left on the clock. Barbour has rushed for 1,598 yards and 21 touchdowns for the Thunderbirds. Deace Turner has passed for 959 yards and eight touchdowns while adding another 1,002 yards and 13 touchdowns on the ground. Linebacker Will McHargue leads the T’Birds’ defense with 118 tackles. Warren, the Division 3 runner-up last season, is coming off a 40-14 victory over Golden Valley. Skylar Lendsey rushed for 138 yards and two touchdowns last week, and Teralle Watson also ran for a pair of touchdowns. Linebacker Kalani Tialavea led the defense with eight tackles.

Division 9
Great Oak (6-6) at Long Beach Wilson (8-4), 7 p.m.
IE Varsity info: Great Oak knocked off St. Genevieve 27-17 last week to reach the semifinals for just the second time in program history (2014). Ryder Smith continues to prove he is one of the Inland Empire’s best two-way players. Smith has rushed for 1,248 yards and 15 touchdowns, and he also leads the Wolfpack defense with 118 tackles and nine sacks. Mikey Vazquez is a dangerous special teams player, having returned four punts and one kickoff for touchdowns. Wilson scored 12 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to pull out a 19-17 win over Village Christian last week. Mack Cooper has passed for 1,658 yards and 15 touchdowns, while Maxwell Barbee has caught 10 touchdown passes for the Bruins

Division 11
San Gorgonio (9-2) vs. El Rancho (8-4) at California HS, 7 p.m.
IE Varsity info: San Gorgonio avenged a previous loss to Grand Terrace, pulling out a 26-23 win on Hector Bustamante’s 29-yard field goal with 3:24 remaining in the game. Jacob Russell has passed for 2,036 yards and 26 touchdowns, and Reshawn Holmes has rushed for 1,123 yards and 10 touchdowns for the Spartans. Kaleb Taylor has 13 touchdowns among his 26 receptions. Linebacker John Rubio leads the defense with 102 tackles. El Rancho cruised to a 42-20 victory over Los Amigos last week. Ryan Dominguez has passed for 1,906 yards and 21 touchdowns, and Andrew Guerrero has caught 62 passes for 863 yards and eight touchdowns. Linebacker Javier Hernandez leads the Dons on defense with 109 tackles.
Prediction: San Gorgonio.
Division 12
Carter (8-3) at Hacienda Heights Wilson (11-1), 7 p.m.
IE Varsity info: Carter has averaged 55 points per game in two playoff wins. Ryder Carson has thrown for 1,801 yards and 23 touchdowns, and Jordan McKinney has rushed for 1,095 yards and 15 touchdowns. Joey Martinez has 10 TD receptions, and linebacker Christopher Martinez leads Carter’s defense with 96 tackles. Wilson cruised to a 27-0 victory over Estancia last week to extend its winning streak to 11 games. Dominic Ezeonye has rushed for 1.986 yards and 28 touchdowns. Linebacker Karl Cruz leads the Wildcats on defense with 82 tackles.
Prediction: Carter
Division 14
Pioneer (7-5) at Ganesha (7-5) 7 p.m.
IE Varsity info: Ganesha pulled out a 43-42 victory over Century last week to extend its winning streak to five games. Shannon Farley has rushed for 1,383 yards and 18 touchdowns, and he also has thrown 12 touchdown passes. Albert Kelsey took the majority of snaps behind center for the Giants last week and passed for 176 yards and two touchdowns while adding 80 yards and two scores on the ground. Kelsey also caught a touchdown pass from Farley. Pioneer held on for a 27-20 victory over Westminster La Quinta last week. Amiri Resendiz has passed for 1,495 yards and 13 touchdowns, and Jose Rojas has caught 36 passes for 731 yards and 10 touchdowns. Rojas also leads the Titans on defense with nine interceptions.

SATURDAY’S CIF SOUTHERN SECTION PREVIEW
SEMIFINAL ROUND
8-Person, Division 2
Cornerstone Christian (8-3) vs. Avalon (5-5) at Machado Field, Avalon, 3 p.m.
IE Varsity info: Cornerstone Christian has outscored its two playoff opponents by a combined score of 121-21 and now will make the trip to Catalina Island for its semifinal game. The Crusaders are led by quarterback Dylan Kelly, running backs Reed Ebberts and Matthew Huffman, and tight end Steel Hoham. Linebacker William Aderhold and lineman Joshua Aderhold are the leaders of the defense. Avalon also has been dominant in the postseason, posting victories by the scores of 47-0 and 50-6.
