RIDEM on ‘high alert’ for poaching during muzzleloader deer season
Nov 21, 2024
WEST GREENWICH, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management said Environmental Police Officers will be on “high alert” for poaching during muzzleloader deer season.
RIDEM said that hunting licenses and permit fees are vital for funding wildlife restoration efforts and that poaching depletes the state’s natural resources.
The department said that a West Greenwich resident’s dog alongside a deer were caught in illegal snare traps found on private property, and a suspect was arrested for illegal hunting activity.
Anyone who believes they have seen poaching activity can report it to 401-222-3070.
