NORMAN, Okla. (KFOR) - A Wewoka judge is behind bars after being held in direct contempt on Thursday for "aggressive and disruptive conduct" inside a Oklahoma courthouse. First reported by NonDoc, Wewoka Municipal Judge Kelly Lynn was arrested for "aggressive and disruptive conduct". GOP Sen. Markwayne Mullin: Letting Oklahoma public school educators teach the Bible is a ‘slippery slope’ Judge Kelly Lynn, who served as a Norman City Councilman, was sentenced to five days in the Oklahoma County Jail by District Court Judge Sheila Stinson, according to Aaron Brilbeck. NonDoc says, the hearing came after Lynn’s behavior toward a public defender during a family court docket causing Judge James Siderias to have him arrested on a contempt allegation. “It’s not something that happens often. Judges are very reticent ever to find attorneys guilty of contempt, so this is a very, very, very rare occasion,” said Oklahoma County Presiding Judge Richard Ogden, who was briefed on the morning’s events. “I’ve been a judge for 10 years, and I’m presiding judge now, but I can’t recall another occasion similar to this. It doesn’t happen often.” Ogden said the allegations against Lynn included “yelling, rage and cursing.”, says NonDoc. Aaron Brilbeck, the public information officer for the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office, confirmed to KFOR that Lynn was carrying a firearm when he was arrested in court. NonDoc reported Brilbeck saying, “We took him into custody,”. “We did find a weapon on him.” “Oklahoma statute allows municipal judges — although they may also be practicing attorneys — to carry on state property. That would include courthouses,” Ogden said. “That is a provision of the statute that I think surprised all of us. He did lawfully have a weapon on him, which he did surrender to the sheriff’s office once he was taken into custody in Judge Siderias’ courtroom.” Gaetz withdraws from attorney general consideration Judge Stinson has ordered Lynn back to her courtroom from jail for a follow-up hearing at 1:30 p.m. Friday. *This story is developing
