Thanksgiving to impact trash pickup, public transit around MidMissouri

Thanksgiving is already upon us and trash pickup around the area will be impacted.
The state and every city office observes the holiday. Gov. Mike Parson signed an executive order on Nov. 7 that will also close state offices on the day after the holiday. Columbia and Jefferson City will also have city offices closed on both days. Emergency services will not be affected.
Trash and recycling
The City of Columbia wrote in a Thursday press release that curbside trash and recycling will not be collected on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28, and will resume the next day. Trash pickup will be delayed one day for the rest of the week.
Fulton Solid Waste will pick up Thursday’s trash and recycling on Wednesday, according to its calendar.
In Jefferson City, refuse and recycling will not be collected on Thursday and will be delayed one day for the rest of the week. The same schedule will be applied to Boonville’s pickup dates.
Public transportation
Go COMO and JeffTran, the public bus systems in Columbia and Jefferson City, will not operate on Thursday or Friday.
Parking enforcement is suspended both days in Columbia.
Additional
The Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services will be closed on Thanksgiving Day and the day after, according to a press release from the city.
The Activity and Recreation Center in Columbia will be:
Open 5:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. on Wednesday
Closed on Thursday for the holiday
Reopen at 5:30 a.m. Friday. Recreational swim will be available from 1-9 p.m.
