Indy cat finds way home after missing for 6 months

INDIANAPOLIS — She left through a screen door. She was gone from May to November. Now, an Indianapolis cat has made a "purrfect" reunion with her family.
According to Indy resident Christine Ellis, she and her husband Adam were on their honeymoon in May while their cat, Moot, stayed with family members in Illinois. To the family's surprise, Moot fled the home from a screen door, leading to a community-wide search.
Posters were plastered on signposts across multiple neighborhoods. The Ellis family posted online, contacted multiple shelters and even reached out to local authorities.
It was starting to feel like Moot was gone for good.
That was until early November when the Ellis family got a call from a neighbor.
On Nov. 2, Christine Ellis said that "...a neighbor 1.5 miles away report[ed] that a cat matching Moot's description ha[d] been visiting." The Ellises examined a photo, confirmed it was their cat and drove over to the neighbor who had successfully lured Moot into their garage.
Moot returned home on Nov. 3. To get the cat out of the garage, Christine Ellis said she used treats, a blue string and Moot's favorite toy.

Christine Ellis said Moot is now safe at home, where she is "...curled up and showered with love, proving the unbreakable bond between pets and their families."
