SUPERIOR, Wis. (WFRV) - A manufacturing plant in northern Wisconsin has announced plans to close at the beginning of December, affecting dozens of workers. According to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) letter submitted to the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development, Barko Hydraulics, located on Banks Avenue in Superior, will close on Dec. 1, 2024, resulting in the layoff of 57 employees. The union represents production, warehouse, and maintenance employees at the facility. Corporate officials noted that all production, warehouse, and maintenance operations at the Barko facilities have now concluded and will not resume, except for limited and intermittent work over the coming weeks.
