FAA could slow holiday travel due to staffing issues
Nov 21, 2024
(CNN)– The FAA says it may need to slow down air traffic during peak travel times this holiday season due to staffing issues.
The northeast could be hit the hardest, especially New York due to a shortage of air traffic controllers in that area.
In May, the FAA said it was short about 3 thousand air traffic controllers overall.
In September, the agency said it had met its yearly goal of hiring 18 hundred controllers.
The FAA says the Tuesday before Thanksgiving will likely be its busiest travel day.
It says any slowdowns in air traffic will be done to keep the skies safe for travelers.
