Nov 21, 2024
RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– First shift crews with the Columbia-Richland County Fire Department responded to a report of smoke on the roof at St. Andrews Middle School this morning.
CRFD says on Thursday morning, Nov. 21, firefighters arrived at the school shortly before 11:30 a.m. and saw a haze after making entry.
Firefighters were able to track the smoke to an overheated motor in an HVAC unit of one of the classrooms.
No one was injured and the issue was resolved.
Officials say students and teachers evacuated the building and were able to re-enter after it was ventilated.
