(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Medical Board has ordered two clinics in town to shut down due to allegedly performing unlicensed medicine. The owner of Apex Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Center, Heather Copeland was served on Tuesday, Oct. 22 for practicing medicine without the required license, according to a cease-and-desist letter FOX21 News received from the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies. The Medical Board found that Apex Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation was not owned by a licensed medical provider, and Copeland was never licensed to practice medicine in Colorado. According to the letter, since around Jan. 1, Copeland engaged in the unlicensed practice of medicine and provided services such as pain management, including offering and providing ketamine and platelet-rich plasma, to the public. Apex had two clinics in the area, one in Fountain on Falling Star Road and another in Colorado Springs on Carefree Circle. According to the El Paso County Court Docket, Copeland is set to appear in court on Monday, Nov. 25 for a FED hearing on an eviction case according to the El Paso County Court. FOX21 News tried to reach out to Copeland, however, Apex's website was down and the phone number listed next to their Google profile is no longer in service.
