(ALAMOSA, Colo.) — Four Alamosa Elementary School students were injured during a crash involving a school bus. On Thursday, Nov. 21 at around 7:39 a.m., the Alamosa Police Department responded to a two-vehicle crash involving a black Ford Edge and a school bus at West Avenue and 8th Street near Sunset Park in Alamosa. According to police, the school bus was carrying 14 students to Alamosa Elementary when the bus crashed into the SUV. Witnesses told police that the school bus failed to yield the right of way when it turned in front of the Ford Edge. Due to the crash, the intersection was closed and reopened at 8:24 a.m. Four students and the driver of the Ford Edge were treated for minor injuries. The bus driver, 69-year-old Dennis Pacheco, was cited for careless driving causing injury.
