CHARLOTTE, NC – A suspect is in custody after a deadly shooting at a convenience store in northeast Charlotte.
The shooting happened around 5:30pm on Tuesday at the Charlotte Fast Mart on Tom Hunter Road at Reagan Drive.
Detectives arrested 52-year-old Sharrieff Gray on Thursday with the help of the Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT) and SWAT.
Gray is charged with the murder of 53-year-old Ronnie Ruth.
Police on the scene of the shooting said robbery did not appear to be a motive. “Just a tragic incident, did not appear to be an altercation that led up to it from inside the store. Just very brazen, violent act that happened inside,” said Maj. J.D. Thomas, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
