TOPEKA (KSNT) — Federal health officials say more than 43,000 units of breakfast food items distributed in stores nationwide are being recalled as they may contain pieces of plastic.
The Food and Drug Administration said Ohio-based JM Smucker Company LLC is voluntarily recalling several thousand cases of Great Value brand breakfast goods sold at Walmart stores nationwide because they may contain plastic, making them unsafe for consumption.
In total, 2,027 cases of 16.5-ounce Great Value Cheese Danish, with UPC 078742201177, and 1,602 cases of 16.5-ounce Great Value Cinnamon Rolls, with UPC 078742201160, were impacted by the recall. Both products have a lot number of L092525200 269X.

The recall was initiated at the start of November but was given an official classification by the FDA this week. The agency labeled it as a 'Class II,' meaning the products may cause some harmful health impacts for consumers.
In a statement shared with Nexstar's KSNT, Jacquelyn Cook, director of executive communications with Walmart, said, "The health and safety of our customers is always a top priority."
"A sales restriction was placed on impacted products, and they were removed from impacted stores," the statement continued. "We continue to work with the supplier to investigate."
No additional details were immediately available.
