BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- Firefighters are working to contain a fire that broke out in a riverbed Thursday morning near Chester Avenue in Oildale. Firefighters were called to an area west of the Chester Avenue bridge just before 11 a.m. for a report of a grass fire. Gov. Gavin Newsom to visit California counties that voted for Trump Kern County Fire Department officials said multiple homeless encampments were burned in the fire but the cause of the fire was not known and is under investigation. No injuries were reported. Check back for updates.
