WASHINGTON (DC News Now) -- The holiday season is here and Washington, D.C.'s Smithsonian's National Zoo will recast into a winter wonderland for its ZooLights display. On Nov. 22, the zoo's 16th annual light spectacular will start and go until Jan. 4. Featuring glowing lantern animals, musical performances, explorers can take a ride on the train or the Conservation Carousel, and sample sweet and savory seasonal treats. ZooLights takes thousands of visitors into a winter wonderland. Dozens of dazzling displays and half a million environmentally-friendly LED lights illuminate the Zoo's pathways. Visitors can stroll through immersive lantern displays showing rainforest, grassland, desert, ocean and polar habitats and the animals that call them home. (Photo Courtesy: Smithsonian’s National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute) (Photo Courtesy: Smithsonian’s National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute) If you are looking to go on an adventure at the zoo with family and friends, here is a list of weekends the ZooLights display will be available: Week 1: Friday, Nov. 22 – Sunday, Nov. 24 Week 2: Friday, Nov. 29 – Sunday, Dec. 1 Week 3: Friday, Dec. 6 – Sunday, Dec. 8 Week 4: Friday, Dec. 13 – Sunday, Dec. 15 Week 5: Thursday, Dec. 19 – Monday, Dec. 23 Week 6: Thursday, Dec. 26 – Monday, Dec. 30 Week 7: Friday, Jan. 3 – Saturday, Jan. 4 The last display will take place from Dec. 5 until Jan. 2, but the zoo said this weekend is dedicated to members only. According to the zoo's website, tickets are $6 each, and children above 2 years old will need a ticket. Parking will be $30 for each vehicle. All proceeds will go toward animal care and conservation science at the Smithsonian's National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute.
