ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A man was sentenced Thursday for his role in a shooting that left one person dead and another injured.
Kwame Acosta was sentenced to one year in prison for criminal possession of a weapon. He has already served 7 months of that.
At trial, Acosta was acquitted of the most serious charges, including murder.
Back in February, Acosta shot two men inside a home on Farragut Street. 27-year-old Davarcea Fort died at the scene. The other man survived.
Acosta’s lawyers argued this was a case of self-defense, and the shooting stemmed from a fight over money when the two men showed up at the house.
