WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) - A pedestrian died after being hit by a small SUV. It happened around 8 a.m. at Central and West Street. Wichita police say the SUV was heading south on West Street, and a woman in her 40s was crossing West Street when she was hit. She was transported to the hospital in critical condition, where she died. The driver, a woman in her 50s, stopped at the scene and cooperated with the police. Police think the sun may have contributed. "We believe the morning sunlight is a factor in this crash, limiting the ability of the driver to see the pedestrian in the crosswalk," Capt. Police are looking into whether the driver had a green light. Authorities say parts of Central and West were blocked during the investigation.
