WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) - A pedestrian died after being hit by a small SUV. It happened around 8 a.m. at Central and West Street. Wichita police say the SUV was heading south on West Street, and a woman in her 40s was crossing West Street when she was hit. She was transported to the hospital in critical condition, where she died. The driver, a woman in her 50s, stopped at the scene and cooperated with the police. Police think the sun may have contributed. "We believe the morning sunlight is a factor in this crash, limiting the ability of the driver to see the pedestrian in the crosswalk," Capt. Aaron Moses, Wichita Police Department, said. Kansas school receiving backlash over new restrooms for Pre-K The victim's identity hasn't been released pending family notification. Police are looking into whether the driver had a green light. Authorities say parts of Central and West were blocked during the investigation.
