Tiverton steelworkers union announces no confidence vote in town, DPW leadership
Nov 21, 2024
TIVERTON, R.I. (WLNE) — United Steelworkers Local 14845 has announced a formal vote of no confidence in Tiverton Town Administrator Chris Cotta and DPW Director Richard Rogers, Jr.
In a November 19 statement from Patrick Crowley, President of RI AFL-CIO, the union claims that “members have consistently raised issues regarding budget mismanagement leading to aging equipment, worker safety, and failure to follow contract language, transparency, etc., yet these issues remain unresolved.”
The statement goes on to say that due to actions of town leadership, the relationship between the union and leadership has been adversely affected.
The statement concludes with hopes that the no confidence vote will “prompt meaningful change and pave the way for a more collaborative and supportive relationship.”
ABC6 has reached out to both Chris Cotta and Richard Rogers, Jr for comment in this matter.
