KNOTTS ISLAND, N.C. (WAVY) — The woman accused of helping conceal the body of a missing man, out of Knotts Island, is confirmed to have been his girlfriend, according to court documents. Previous Coverage: Woman arrested in connection to disappearance of Knotts Island man Martrell Lamar was reported missing by his mother in July out of Knotts Island. Before his disappearance, he was living with his girlfriend, Ashley Walton. Her story to deputies conflicted with other evidence gathered, including phone records, and she was eventually charged in connection to his disappearance despite no body being found. Walton told deputies that the two got into an argument on July 2, and Lamar left — that was the last time she saw him, she told officials. However, phone records showed that both Lamar and Walton were at the Pungo Ferry Bridge in Virginia Beach. According to court documents, the pair were arguing in Virginia Beach when Walton called a man. The suspect allegedly showed up at the boat ramp and shot Lamar, according to documents. The body was then put in Walton's car where she is accused of driving his remains to 108 Tomlinson Lane. Her car and a Ford SUV were seen in that area between midnight and 1 a.m. along with a tall man. Walton's Buick was found in Chesapeake on Nov. 13 and brought to Virginia Beach where a human remains detection K9 alerted officers to the trunk. Blood samples from the trunk was confirmed to be Lamar's, and Walton was charged with concealing, transporting his body and concealing evidence of the homicide.
