MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- A woman accused of shooting a man to death at an apartment complex in South Memphis over a year ago was arrested this week. Jamesha Banzant, 34, is charged with first-degree murder and especially aggravated robbery. Jamesha Banzant (SCSO) On October 28, 2023, Memphis Police said they responded to a shooting call at the Lapaloma Apartments on 1756 Lapaloma Street. A male victim was found lying inside the apartment suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Minutes later, he was pronounced dead by the Memphis Fire Department Rescue. MPD identified the victim as Montreal Moore. Arrest made after woman stabbed in face with screwdriver at McDonalds According to reports, it all started when Moore and a male neighbor were helping a woman move out of her apartment. She told police that Moore and the neighbor began to argue, but they were able to resolve their disagreement. The woman said as she was walking down the hallway of her apartment, she heard a woman yelling from the front of her apartment. That is when she says she heard Moore say, "You better get your girl." The woman says she turned around and began to walk toward the front room. Moore was seen standing in the front room along with the male neighbor and a woman known as "Neecy". Police say Neecy and the male neighbor live together. Neecy raised her right arm, which was wrapped in a yellow sheet, in Moore's direction before several shots were fired, reports state. Moore then fell to the floor. MPD says Neecy reached inside the front doorway to grab a cricket cell phone and an Android cell phone from a table. Both phones belonged to the woman who owned the apartment. On October 28, 2023, investigators say Jamesha Banzant was developed as the shooting suspect known as "Neecy". Officials also say they found the blue Mustang unoccupied the next day in Southaven, Mississippi. Officers say they attempted to locate Banzant but were unsuccessful. On November 20, Jamesha Banzant was arrested. She is set to face a judge on Thursday morning.
