MS jailer tased by inmate, sheriff’s office says Jacques Suggs (SCSO) On May 12, around 5:10 p.m., officers say they responded to a driving under the influence call at EH Crump Boulevard and I-240 South when they saw a silver Chevrolet Traverse going west on Lamar Avenue near McClean. According to reports, the Chevrolet driver was passing cars in oncoming traffic and almost hit several vehicles that were going eastbound, including a police vehicle. A traffic stop was initiated at that time. The officers say they made contact with Jacques Suggs who refused to turn his music down or put the car in park as he gave them a "blank stare." While Suggs was being detained, he told police, "I drank a bottle." Officers say they also smelled a strong odor of alcohol coming from his breath. Woman arrested after shooting man to death last year: MPD Suggs began to scream while he was being placed into a police car and an officer secured his vehicle, putting it in park. Police say a fifth of Kohrs Gin could be seen on the passenger seat leaning against the Chevrolet's center console. MPD says a 17-year-old who was argumentative and screaming that she was a pregnant juvenile was sitting in the backseat of the Chevrolet. The mother was then called to the scene. Suggs became "irate" and "combative" as officers said they performed standardized field sobriety tests so they had to perform alternate tests such as the ABC and numbers test instead. Suggs was then taken to the police station to get this blood drawn. The Chevrolet was released to the mother. Jacques Suggs is due back in court on Thursday morning.
