INDIANAPOLIS – Crews responded to a fire Thursday morning at an east side restaurant.
The Indianapolis Fire Department was dispatched around 6:15 a.m. to 1935 N. Shadeland Ave. That's the address for Four Seasons Diner.
Heavy smoke and flames were reported at the location. The family-owned restaurant has been in business for more than three decades.
IFD said units responded at 6:21 a.m. and had the fire under control by 7:27 a.m.

Elisha Gharbi, a manager, told FOX59/CBS4 she noticed smoke coming from the neon sign. They shut off the circuit breaker, but the fire quickly spread and they evacuated the building minutes later.
"And about five minutes later, a customer came in to do a carryout order, and told me it was on fire and that's when I called 911," Gharbi said. "And they showed up and we got out of the building."
Gharbi described the fire as "devastating." The business is open every day and has been a fixture for decades.
"We are open every holiday, it's just good for the east side community," she said. "We have a lot of regulars that come every day. We have customers that come in every day--this is their source of a meal. So, this is very devastating."
Gharbi did get a look at the damage from inside.
"I went inside without permission, but I did go inside," she said. "The north side of the building, they've busted the ceiling cause they said there were hotspots and they were able to get it out from the inside, so water is leaking. It's all the north side of the building, so we're hoping that we can go inside and look at the rest and evaluate it."
Gharbi estimated she worked about 70 hours a week and noted several employees were single moms just trying to make ends meet. They were considering a GoFundMe to help them get through the holiday season.
No one was hurt. In addition to IFD, Indianapolis EMS and the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded to the scene. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
