Three years ago, their son collapsed with rheumatic fever, damaging his heart and kidneys and making him extremely susceptible to illness.
In August of 2023, they found permanent housing and earlier this year, Mom enrolled at Kapiolani Community College and signed up for parenting classes.
Just last month, her partner died. In addition to her immense grief, she and her son may now face eviction as she cannot afford the rent on her own.
Although they could use a bed for her son since they share one right now, she's not sure they'll have a place for it.
Mom said her son could use a backpack and school supplies. He loves music and hands-on musical instruments such as the ukulele.
He enjoys easy reader books and superhero books like Spiderman and he loves to swim.
For mom, she would appreciate groceries.
In the spirit of laulima, our many hands working together, let's help mom and her son through this difficult time and bring some light to their holidays.
