(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The El Paso County Sheriff's Office (EPSO) and the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) are asking for the public's help in identifying a suspect who allegedly struck a deputy with his car after the deputy tried to stop him. On Friday, Sept. 6 at around 9 a.m., an EPSO deputy found a stolen car near Brant Road and Expedition Drive in unincorporated El Paso County, but the suspect drove off and evaded the deputy. UPDATE: Deputy hit by vehicle, fired at least one shot A few minutes later, the same deputy found the car and attempted to make contact, however, the suspect drove off again, this time, striking the deputy with his car. The deputy fired at least one round from his handgun but it did not appear that the driver was hit by the bullet, according to CSPD. The deputy was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. At a later time that day, the car, a blue Mazda CX5 with no license plate, was recovered unoccupied. The suspect has not been identified or located. Law enforcement is asking for the public's assistance in identifying the suspect pictured below: Anyone who has seen or knows this person is asked to call CSPD at 719-444-7000.
