Marian House receives $10,000 to address hunger needs

(COLORADO SPRINGS) —Ahead of the holiday season, a nonprofit in town has been awarded $10,000 to help fight hunger needs this winter.
On Wednesday, Nov. 20, Mondelēz awarded the check to Marian House, and Safeway was in-house to discuss Safeway's Nourishing Neighbors program. The grocery store also distributed $50 gift cards to clients of the Marian House pantry for holiday food shopping at any Safeway store.
"I don't think people understand what a blessing it is," said Lena Arnott, a recipient of the $50 gift card. "I have custody of my two grandkids and is true, it helps you, instead of having mac-and-cheese it helps you have hamburgers or tacos or chicken. It's a big difference."
Although the first round of gift cards was already distributed, a second round will be given to individuals in need in time for the holidays.
