Centerville is located near Summerville, Ladson, and North Charleston. It’s not a name commonly known; however, earthquakes are often recorded with “Centerville” listed as the epicenter through the USGS.
A 2.53 magnitude earthquake was recorded there in July of 2023, and a 1.4 struck the area months earlier in January 2023. A series of small earthquakes also rattled the area during the summer of 2022.
The quakes are often too small to notice and are not unusual in South Carolina.
