Nov 21, 2024
BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) -- Families can enjoy a few weeks of twinkling lights and holiday magic during Zoo lights at BREC's Baton Rouge Zoo.
The event runs from 5:30-9 p.m. Nov. 29 to Dec. 30.
The zoo is once again teaming up with the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank for a holiday food drive to support local families. People who bring a non-perishable food item will get a 50% discount on regular admission. This year's goal is to collect 8,000 pounds of food. Officials said last year's contribution was more than 7,000 pounds.
On opening day, the first 200 guests to visit and hug the Coca-Cola Polar Bear will receive a free 12-ounce can of Coca-Cola, while supplies last.
Santa Claus will be at Zoo Lights on Fridays and Saturdays leading up to Christmas at the Otter Cabin. Families can share holiday wishes, capture festive photos and receive a peppermint, according to the zoo.
