BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- The Bakersfield City Council approved a $317 million master plan to repair old city parks and build new ones Wednesday night. The plan, which was set forth by the Recreation and Parks Department, focuses on underdeveloped areas. There are 10 parks that fit in the plan. Anti-hate forum provides resources at Larry E. Reider Center Organizers say the goal is to add amenities that the community wants so parks are more family-friendly. A different part of the plan aims to repair parks like the Martin Luther King Park in central Bakersfield and the Kern River Parkway. The master plan is a 10-year effort and builds upon the 2007 master plan for the city's parks.
