First snow of the season, more in late afternoon
Nov 21, 2024
This morning's snow has been steady and will begin to taper by mid-morning, as temperatures are ranging between 31-34°. Most roads are wet but a few bridges and overpasses may become lightly covered and slick! A few extra minutes out-the-door could be a good idea to begin your day.
This afternoon, temperatures creep back up to 35° by early afternoon before a second round of snow drops in from the north. Steadier, wet snow is expected to fall which will reduce visibility and slow travel for the evening rush hour. Most snow will accumulate on grassy areas and elevated surfaces which does include bridges and overpasses.
The combination of wind and falling snow will reduce visibility and bog down traffic at times through 8 p.m. Snowfall totals for most will range between 1" to 1.5" but there will likely be a few areas exceeding 2 inches--most of this on grassy areas. A great first snow of the season, if not, out on the roads!
Lingering, light wintry mix of mist, drizzle and flurries is expected for Friday with highs in the lower 40s. The weekend brings drier air and some sun, especially on Sunday. Enjoy!
