Holyoke police investigate reported shooting incident, victim identified

HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) - Holyoke Police are investigating a shooting incident near Pine and Hampden Streets Tuesday afternoon that left one person injured.
According to police, officers were called to the area at approximately 1:50 p.m. after a ShotSpotter activation alerted authorities to gunfire. Investigators determined that two vehicles were possibly involved in an exchange of gunfire.
Initially, no victims were reported, but police later identified one individual who is being treated at Baystate Medical Center and expected to be okay.
During their investigation, officers recovered a firearm near the scene of the shooting. The Holyoke Police Department noted that they did not receive any 911 calls about the incident, with ShotSpotter serving as the only notification.
Holyoke Police are asking for help from the community as they continue their investigation. Anyone with information or video footage related to the incident is urged to contact the Holyoke Police Department at 413-322-6900. Tips can also be submitted anonymously by texting “SOLVE” to 274637.
