UNM women's basketball win in a blowout over South Carolina State

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Mike Bradbury wanted to see consistency from his UNM Lobos women's basketball team and he got it. The Lobos played South Carolina State hard from start to finish in a 80-38 blowout Wednesday night.
Defensively the Lobos only allowed the Lady Bulldogs 20 points in the first half and 18 total points in the final two quarters of the game. The Lobos scored 33 points off of turnovers from the Lady Bulldogs, who finished with 22 miscues.
Hulda Joaquim led UNM with 14 points and 10 rebounds. For Joaquim, it is her second career double-double. Viane Cumber and Destinee Hooks scored 13 points each in the win while Amhyia Moreland chipped in 12 points and 6 rebounds. The Lobos dominated on the glass pulling down 43 boards compared to that of 27 for the Lady Bulldogs.
UNM shot the ball better than their opponent, making 9 of 26 three-point shots. The Lobos also found 48 points in the paint. Mekayla Lumpkin led the Lady Bulldogs in scoring with 9 points. With the win, the Lobos improved to 3-2 on the season. They will host Gonzaga on Sunday at 1 p.m.
